Vilnius is the main economic centre of Lithuania and one of the biggest financial centers in Baltic States. The economy of Vilnius has a huge impact to the budget of Lithuania. Vilnius city has produced 39% percents Lithuania’s GDP (Gross Domestic Product) in 2007. GDP for single person was 45000 litas and it was more than 54.9% higher than Lithuania’s average.

Vilnius is in the first place according to investments to longtime material property. Investments to longtime material property were 8.21 billion litas in Vilnius in 2006.

Vilnius also invests huge amounts of money to development of infrastructure; such as South and West circuits will help to reduce traffic flow in Ukmergės – Geležinis Vilkas main streets. The reduction of traffic flow will allow to save money of citizens as these money won’t be wasted in traffic jams. It was counted that 1 billion litas is lost in traffic jams every year.

Metro, tram, renewal of public transport, establishment of Vilnius airlines and other projects are in the strategic plan of Vilnius.
