Vilnius Railway Station is in the strategic location of the city: near the center and the Old Town. It also is cut by the main routes of Vilnius city transport. It is worth to remember that from Vilnius train station you can get to the major cities of Lithuania - Kaunas, Siauliai, Klaipeda and other smaller towns in the country and the suburbs of Vilnius. Domestic and international passenger transportation via rail transport is performed by "Lithuanian Railways" company .
Vilnius Railway Station
Vilnius Railway Station is one of Lithuania's most important railway junctions. Trains from Vilnius railway station depart to various cities, towns and in other countries. The main building of Vilnius Railway Station is headquaters for Lithuanian Railway administration. This building also is an architectural monument. The station was built in the nineteenth century. However, it was destroyed during the war. After the war the building was rebuilt and has remained to this day. A booking office of station, mailroom, cafes, shops and departure waiting room can be found in the main building. Finally, the correct platform can be reached from main building.

- City buses. Bus station can be reached by the following routes: 1, 1A, 3, 12, 13, 16, 19, 23, 26, 31, 34, 41, 42, 43, 53, 54, 74, 78. If you purchase a ticket in a newsagent - fare 2Lt and if tickets are purchased on the bus then standard price - 2.5 Lt.
- Trolleybusses. Trolleybuses that go to bus station: 1, 2, 5, 7, 16, 20. If you purchase a ticket in a newsagent - fare 2Lt and if tickets are purchased on the bus then standard price - 2.5 Lt.
- Shuttle taxi. If you want quickly reach the bus station, then select this vehicle. The station can be reached by 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 13, 16, 27, 32, 33, 37, 49, 50, 62, 74, 82, 99 shuttle taxi. You can buy tickets from the driver and price for each ticket is 3 Lt.
JSC "Lietuvos Geležinkeliai" (Lithuanian Railways) is the only Lithuania's railway company which carries passangers. This is one of the largest companies in Lithuania, generating about 1.4 percent of Lithuania's GDP. This company also employs about 12 thousand people. Up to 5 million passengers are carried by this company every year: about 80 percent of passengers carried on domestic routes, rest of them - on international routes.
Every day Vilnius is connected with rail routes to various cities and towns such as: Ignalina, Jašiūnai, Kaišiadorys, Kaunas, Kena, Jonava, Kėdainiai, Radviliškis, Šiauliai, Plungė, Kretinga, Klaipėda, Marcinkonys, Šeštokai and Varėna. In addition to this, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kaliningrad, Mogilev, Minsk and Warsaw can be reached by train from Vilnius.
